Part Time Jobs Better Than Full Time Jobs
Do you think that if you had two jobs, both for a part of a full workday, that you would be far better off than if you had just one full-time job? Now you can answer this question with incredulity that anyone could manage find two regular part-time jobs in this economy that paid well. Or you could dismiss this question as unrealistic for the fact that it seems to assume that there is enough time in anyone’s day for two jobs. While unavailability of time and jobs could be good arguments against the question, in an economy where many employers can no longer afford to hire full-time, getting part-time jobs is often the only option. But since you need a full-time income, getting a second job can be the only available avenue for you. To many people, allowing themselves to accept two part-time jobs places them in areas of work that they really enjoy. So how do you balance all of this?
A little while ago, I thought it best to hold three part time jobs at once to hedge my bets against job loss. One job was doing freelance writing over the weekends, one job was teaching a class in bookkeeping at an adult education program, and one was working as a part-time accountant at a small software company. It gave me a lot of comfort to know that I couldn’t be laid off from all three at the same time. No matter how bad things got, I was sure that I can at least survive on one. Getting three jobs also gave me quite a lot as valuable experience in multiple areas of work. It gave me the option to choose one of three kinds of work for full-time employment one day.
Part-time jobs bring flexibility into your life in a way regular jobs just can’t. With a full-time job, your personal life gets completely sidetracked all week, and you can never think of getting everything done for yourself until the weekend shows up. What do you do when you need to take a child to the hospital? What do you do when you need work done around the house? Part-time jobs give you the kind of flexibility that full-time work never could. Usually, when one job becomes more demanding, the other job is just moderately demanding, and you can always ignore the less demanding job for a while. Once the jobs crisis in this country is over and jobs begin to flow a little more easily, just think of how impressive it will look on your ré–Ÿum?to have twice as much experience as everyone else? Having two part-time jobs can be infinitely rewarding, as least as a way to live for some time. It shows your future employers how great you are with multitasking. And it brings you experience in job streams that you would never think of if you only worked one full-time job.
How to Search Part Time Job on Internet
I am a mother of two and had recently decided to try to find a part time job now that both my two adorable children are in school, after all, there is only so much I can take of sitting around and watching Maury Povich and Jerry Springer! At least that’s what my husband seems to think I do all day.
I have other friends with children who have recently started a part time role and they didn’t have too many problems in succeeding to find work relatively easily but with the onset of the credit crunch and the downturn in the economy I was worried that it might be difficult to secure any work part time.
My first port of call was Jobcentre Plus. It’s been a long time since I have frequented Jobcentre Plus but I will be honest it has had a massive revamp since I have been and it has been updated significantly. There are terminals for job-seekers to use, I can only describe them as a job kiosk where you input the type of vacancy you are looking for and it will bring up the jobs in a particular locale. The job kiosk is really simple to use and I found maybe eight vacancies from my search that fitted the bill and printed them out so that I could send my CV along from home later.
Once I got home I sent across my CV to the companies who were advertising for the roles hoping I would hear from them soon. I also had a look online to see if there might be any other roles advertised locally that I could apply for but found the whole online thing highly confusing. In the end I gave up, if only someone could host all of the jobs in one place to make the whole process easier…
On the third day after sending off my applications I received two phone calls from companies inviting me to interviews which I arranged and sat the next day and although a little stressful, obviously, they seemed to go pretty well. The following Monday I received two offer letters in the post for both of the positions I had been interviewed for.
